The White Sox have loads of talented sluggers, especially in the outfield, so Dyson will play a bench role in Chicago. The 36-year-old vet can play solid defense in center and left field, and also steal bases. He is a limited hitter.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
With the Pirates struggling badly this season, it was likely an easy decision to trade veteran Dyson to the White Sox for bonus pool money to sign an international free agent. Dyson's traits are much better served on a contending team.
Fantasy impact
Dyson will not make much of a fantasy impact on the White Sox. He was mostly added for experience, defense and speed off the bench.
