TOMMY MILONE MOVED TO ATLANTA
The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Tommy Milone from the Baltimore Orioles for two players to be named later.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves, historically a pitching-rich franchise, are looking for arms before this year's trade deadline. Veteran left-hander Milone should help, albeit mostly in the short term. The 33-year-old Milone is a journeyman with plenty of experience as both a starter and reliever.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles did very well in this trade to acquire two future assets in exchange for Milone (a veteran starter who was not in Baltimore's long-range plans). While Milone pitched well this season for the O's, the club needs young assets far more at this time.
Fantasy impact
Do not rush to pick Milone up in most league formats. Often, pitchers struggle after going from a non-contender to a team with playoff aspirations late in the season. This could be the case for Milone, who has never been a star in Major League Baseball. Buyer beware.
