MIKE MINOR MOVED TO OAKLAND

The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Mike Minor and cash considerations from the Texas Rangers for players to be named later (Marcus Smith - 09/18/2020), (Dustin Harris - 09/18/2020) and international bonus pool money in 2020-21.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The A's currently lead the Houston Astros by 2.5 games in the AL West, so adding another starting pitcher like Minor should help in their quest to stay in first place. Minor has struggled in 2020 but is a proven left-handed starter who should provide starting depth.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
Since Minor was headed for free agency this off-season, the Rangers did what they could to get back future assets in exchange for his services. They probably would have gotten more than two prospects (and bonus pool money) if he was pitching better in 2020.

Fantasy impact
Minor's numbers should improve in Oakland but his stay may be short (if he decides to test the free agent market this off-season). Therefore, only add Minor as a short-term fix for your fantasy pitching staff. He may not be a long-term answer, depending on where he pitches in '21. There is no need to add either Smith or Harris at this time.
