DAVID PHELPS DEALT TO THE PHILLIES
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired pitcher David Phelps from the Milwaukee Brewers for players to be named later (Juan Geraldo - 09/18/2020), (Israel Puello - 09/18/2020) and (Brandon Ramey - 09/18/2020).
What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
In Phelps, who turns 34 in October, the Phillies get a solid and reliable reliever with plenty of experience. He figures to pitch in a setup role in Philadelphia. The Phils paid a steep price for his services, so they obviously value him.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
It seems like a no-brainer for Milwaukee to deal one of their veteran relievers for three future assets. Even though the prospects are not really of the blue-chip variety, this trade still makes a ton of sense for the Brewers.
Fantasy impact
Phelps could be a source of holds down the stretch, but saves may not be easy to come by for a Phillies team that recently acquired Brandon Workman from the Red Sox. Still, Phelps has fairly decent short-term value in holds leagues. All three pitchers sent to Milwaukee in this deal are off the fantasy radar for the time being.
