KEVIN PILLAR PICKED UP BY COLORADO

The Colorado Rockies acquired outfielder Kevin Pillar and cash considerations from the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later (Jacob Wallace - 09/18/2020) and international bonus pool money in 2020-21.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
For the Rockies, adding Pillar makes sense for their drive to a possible postseason berth. He can play center field as well as a corner spot and does his best work against left-handed pitching. Pillar gives Colorado a lot of lineup options for the rest of the '20 campaign.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
Boston was using Pillar in right field every day lately, mainly because of the injury to Andrew Benintendi (which moved Alex Verdugo from right to left field). However, Pillar was not a long-term option for the rebuilding Red Sox. So, they did well to get back future assets in return.

Fantasy impact
Pillar may not play every day in Colorado, something he had been doing with the Red Sox, Therefore, the time to sell high on Pillar is now. He could be picked up if available in some league formats, but only for those fantasy leaguers desperate for outfield help.
