REDS BRING IN BRADLEY
The Cincinnati Reds acquired pitcher Archie Bradley and cash from the Arizona Diamondbacks for outfielder Stuart Fairchild and infielder/outfielder Josh VanMeter.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
In Bradley, the Reds acquire a solid reliever who recorded six saves in 10 appearances for the Diamondbacks this season. He will likely work in a setup role for closer Raisel Iglesias with the Reds. Bradley is still only 28 years old, even though he seems to have been around forever. This is a solid deal for Cincinnati.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Outfielder Fairchild, the Reds' second-round draft pick (38th overall) in 2017, is probably the key to the deal from an Arizona perspective. He has not played above Double-A ball but could come quickly now that he is with the Diamondbacks organization. VanMeter is mainly a utility man but there is untapped upside here.
Fantasy impact
In non-hold fantasy leagues, where saves are an important category, Bradley should be traded or dropped because he is unlikely to unseat Iglesias in the closer role with Cincinnati. Fairchild is a decent pickup in deep keeper leagues right away, while VanMeter should be on the keeper radar for the time being. Take a wait-and-see approach with him.
