METS MAKE A MOVE FOR CATCHER CHIRINOS

The New York Mets acquired catcher Robinson Chirinos and cash considerations from the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later.

What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets were in the market for catching help, so it makes sense that they landed veteran Chirinos, who will now team up with 33-year-old Wilson Ramos in New York. Look for Chirinos to serve as the No. 2 receiver with the Mets.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers decided to part ways with their starting catcher for a future asset, which makes sense since Chirinos is 36 years old and was hitting only .119 in 42 at-bats this season. It was time to move on.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Chirinos is probably past his expiration date, offensively speaking. Ramos should play more than Chirinos for the Mets.
