METS BRING BACK TODD FRAZIER
The New York Mets acquired infielder Todd Frazier from the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later (Ryan Ryder - 12/18/20).
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets get Frazier back after less than a year, and he is likely to serve as the team's third baseman for the rest of 2020. J.D. Davis will probably lose playing time to Frazier, who is a better glove at the hot corner. Davis may move back to the outfield.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers were not contending this season, so they decided to pull the plug on Frazier after acquiring him as a free agent last winter. Frazier was primarily playing first base in Texas this season, where Danny Santana may stick once he returns from the IL.
Fantasy impact
Frazier's playing time should not suffer with a return to New York, so the real loser after this trade figures to be Davis. Santana will likely play regardless of whether or not he sticks at first base (or returns to center field).
