REYNOLDS FOR TRACY

The Texas Rangers acquired pitcher Greg Reynolds from the Colorado Rockies for first baseman Chad Tracy.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
Reynolds is a serviceable right-hander who can pitch as either a reliever or starter. He's only 26 years old, so he has some upside. However, he has struggled to get batters out on a consistent basis in the big leagues, so he needed a change of scenery.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
Tracy is the son of current Rockies manager Jim Tracy. A former catcher, Tracy now plays first base. He has some home-run power but is viewed as a platoon player at this stage of his development. He may get a shot at earning a job in spring training but is more likely bound for Triple-A.
