NATS LAND DAVIS

The Washington Nationals acquired outfielder J.J. Davis from the Pittsburgh Pirates for outfielder Antonio Sucre.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
This move will give the Nationals a little extra depth in the outfield. Davis spent a lot of time out with injuries last year, but has shown impressive power in the minors during his career, so he figures to give them a strong right-handed bat off the bench.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
Sucre gives the Pirates a decent outfield prospect. After four years pro, the 21-year-old is still down at the Low-A level and hasn't shown much plate discipline, nor a terribly powerful bat. But he's still young, so there's hope that he can live up to his potential. If he does, he might be a fourth outfielder in the majors some day.
