BRAVES ADD IF WILSON

The Atlanta Braves acquired infielder Jack Wilson from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves add a good glove man in Wilson, who can fill in nicely at both shortstop and second base. Since Atlanta already boasts a surehanded shortstop in Alex Gonzalez, look for Wilson to spend most of his time at second base for the Braves. He may even be a late-inning replacement for Dan Uggla down the stretch.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
Wilson lost the starting shortstop job to Brendan Ryan during spring training earlier this year, and then eventually lost the second-base job to rookie Dustin Ackley. Therefore, he had virtually no role left to play in Seattle. So, they did him a favor and shipped him off to Atlanta for a marginal prospect to be named later.
