TAUCHMAN TRADED TO THE GIANTS
The San Francisco Giants acquired outfielder Mike Tauchman from the New York Yankees for pitcher Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later (Connor Cannon - 06/01/21).
What does it give the San Francisco Giants
Tauchman is a versatile outfielder who can play all three positions and play solid defense anywhere. His bat has always been hit or miss, however. That said, the left-handed batter could establish himself as a platoon player in San Francisco (a team that has continuously had trouble finding regular outfield production for several years now).
What does it give the New York Yankees
The Yankees were attempting to trade Tauchman since spring training, so they did well to finally get a deal done before the end of April. Peralta is a decent left-handed reliever who should help New York's bullpen immediately. He will likely serve as the third lefty behind closer Aroldis Chapman and setup man Justin Wilson.
Fantasy impact
Tauchman may get a fair amount of at-bats in San Francisco, but his overall upside is somewhat limited at age 30. He is only worth picking up in very deep (or NL-only) leagues. Peralta has even less value as a potential long man out of the New York bullpen.
