The Los Angeles Angels acquired catcher Drew Butera from the Texas Rangers for cash.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels recently lost catcher Max Stassi to injury, so they needed another backstop to complement veteran Kurt Suzuki. Butera will be a decent stopgap.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers have Jose Trevino and Jonah Heim as their catchers right now, so they did not feel the need to keep Butera around as insurance.

Butera is not a fantasy catcher, never was and never will be. Pass.
