METS MAKE A MOVE FOR McKINNEY
The New York Mets acquired outfielder/first baseman Billy McKinney from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Pedro Quintana.
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets are ravaged by injuries to their current lineup: first baseman Pete Alonso, second baseman Jeff McNeil, third baseman J.D. Davis and outfielders Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, Kevin Pillar and Albert Almora Jr. are all hurt! So, McKinney will likely be summoned quickly as he can lend a hand either in the outfield or at first base.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers recently designated McKinney for assignment, so they did well to get back a pitching prospect in Quintana. The latter is only 17 years old, so there is plenty of time to develop into a solid prospect. McKinney was used a lot earlier this season when Christian Yelich was dealing with back issues but the latter has returned to the lineup.
Fantasy impact
McKinney does not have much fantasy value as he is a depth player who may or may not get his shot with the big-league squad. Quintana is still too raw to be considered a potential keeper. That said, keep an eye on him.
