NATS ADD ALCIDES ESCOBAR
The Washington Nationals acquired infielder Alcides Escobar from the Kansas City Royals for cash.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
In Escobar, the Nationals get yet another veteran infielder (to go along with Josh Harrison, Jordy Mercer and Ryan Zimmerman) for depth purposes. He can play all over, so he should be useful.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals had no need for Escobar, even though he is almost a legend in Kansas City (he was part of the 2015 World Series champions), so they took cash from the Nationals here.
Fantasy impact
Do not expect the 2015 version of Escobar with Washington, so he does not need to be picked up in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.
