TELEZ TRADED TO MILWAUKEE
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired first baseman Rowdy Tellez from the Toronto Blue Jays for pitchers Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Tellez could help Milwaukee sooner rather than later, since the team has the struggling Keston Hiura, utility man Jace Peterson and the injured Daniel Vogelbach as first base options. Tellez might be a steal if given the opportunity to play every day, which may or may not happen. At worst, he is a decent platoon option.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays decided to move on from Tellez (partly because of his own struggles, plus the presence of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at first base), and got back some pitching depth. Richards began 2021 with Tampa Bay, so he is familiar with the Jays and the AL East division. Francis has no MLB experience but is close.
Fantasy impact
All three players involved in this trade should have increased value with their new respective organizations. Tellez could be worth picking up because a return to Major League Baseball may be imminent, while Richards and Francis are more of the middle relief variety. Neither should be picked up.
