CLAY HOLMES HEADS TO THE BRONX

The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Clay Holmes from the Pittsburgh Pirates for infielder/outfielder Hoy Park and infielder Diego Castillo.

What does it give the New York Yankees
In Holmes, the Yankees land a solid reliever who should work the middle innings for New York. He was having a strong campaign in the National League before the trade, so the Yankees hope he can continue to perform under the spotlight.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates, who are rebuilding (again), get back two infielders of modest upside in Park and Castillo. The former can also play the outfield, which adds to his versatility. However, neither is considered a top prospect at this point.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Holmes will mostly work in middle relief for the Yankees. Meanwhile, neither Park nor Castillo should be on the fantasy radar for the moment. Of the two, Park might have more upside (but not enough).
