BOSTON BRINGS IN KYLE SCHWARBER
The Boston Red Sox acquired outfielder Kyle Schwarber from the Washington Nationals for pitcher Aldo Ramirez.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox get a big-time power-hitting outfielder in Schwarber, who is currently on the Injured List due to a hamstring issue. Upon his return, he will likely play mostly in left field. Alex Verdugo will probably shift to center field to accommodate Schwarber.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
In Ramirez, the Nationals gain a quality pitching prospect who is still only 20 years old. The Mexican right-hander is a few years away from the big leagues but he is good value for Schwarber. Washington is looking to retool.
Fantasy impact
Schwarber needs to get back to full health but, when he does, he could be a major plus for his fantasy owners. He needs to adjust to hitting at Fenway Park in Boston, too. Ramirez should be on the fantasy keeper radar, as his stock is now on the rise.
