GALLO GOES TO THE YANKEES!

The New York Yankees acquired outfielder Joey Gallo, pitcher Joely Rodriguez and cash from the Texas Rangers for infielders Ezequiel Duran, Josh Smith and Trevor Hauver, and pitcher Glenn Otto.

What does it give the New York Yankees
In Gallo, the Yankees add yet another massive power hitter to their lineup. He is left-handed, which helps the predominantly righty batting order. Gallo is also versatile, so expect him to play anywhere required (probably in the outfield).

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers get back three promising infield prospects in Duran, Smith and Hauver. They also get a long-term starting pitching prospect in Otto. They had to surrender lefty reliever Rodriguez and some cash as well, but they did fairly well with this trade.

Fantasy impact
Gallo's power potential at Yankee Stadium could be limitless, so he is a great addition. Gallo fantasy owners should be happy with this turn of events. Duran, Smith and Hauver may all be competing for regular jobs in the Rangers' infield down the line. Keep an eye on all three. As for Otto, he is also on the keeper radar but may take longer to arrive to Texas. Rodriguez will provide bullpen depth for the Yankees, so he does not need to be picked up.
