DANIEL HUDSON HEADS TO SAN DIEGO
The San Diego Padres acquired pitcher Daniel Hudson from the Washington Nationals for pitcher Mason Thompson and infielder Jordy Barley.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
In Hudson, the Padres get another quality veteran reliever for their bullpen. Expect Hudson to set up for closer Mark Melancon, although Hudson may need some time as he is currently on the COVID-19 list.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals get a possible replacement for Hudson in the form of Thompson, a solid relief prospect. They also get middle infield prospect Barley, a switch-hitting speedster who is a few years away from MLB.
Fantasy impact
Hudson might have some value down the stretch, but there is also plenty of risk here. Thompson and Barley are now on the keeper radar but neither needs to be picked up immediately.
