ANDREW HEANEY HEADS TO THE BRONX
The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Andrew Heaney and cash from the Los Angeles Angels for pitchers Janson Junk and Elvis Peguero.
What does it give the New York Yankees
After adding left-handed bats recently in the form of Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo, the Yankees then turned towards the starting rotation to grab Heaney. There are a lot of question marks surrounding the rotation, so Heaney could help as a starter. Or, he may even work as a long reliever out of the bullpen.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
Both Junk and Peguero may be late-blooming pitching prospects, so this deal could turn out to be good for the Angels. Junk has starting experience, while Peguero is more of a reliever. Both may get a shot with the big-league club at some point, which may not have happened with New York.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Heaney is merely a depth starter option for the Yankees and the two prospects are not elite. That said, keep an eye on both Junk and Peguero in the coming months.
