ATLANTA ADDS MATT OLSON
The Atlanta Braves acquired first baseman Matt Olson from the Oakland Athletics for outfielder Cristian Pache, catcher Shea Langeliers, and pitchers Ryan Cusick and Joey Estes.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
In Olson, the Braves get a perfect replacement at first base for free agent Freddie Freeman (who is expected to sign elsewhere). Olson put up strong numbers in Oakland and should be that much better with a much better team around him.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Pache is a quality defensive center-fielder who has yet to put it together at the plate. He is a great bet to play every day in center field with the A's this season. Langeliers is a top catching prospect, while Cusick and Estes are good pitching prospects for the future.
Fantasy impact
Olson's fantasy stock might never be higher than it is right now. That is what happens when a move to Atlanta (from Oakland) occurs. Pache has more value as a member of the Athletics organization, but he is still too raw at the dish to trust completely. Langeliers and Cusick are excellent keeper prospects who should be drafted in deeper formats this year. Estes is now on the fantasy keeper radar for the future.
