LUKE RALEY TO THE RAYS
The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Luke Raley from the Los Angeles Dodgers for pitcher Tanner Dodson.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
In Raley, the Rays get a powerful left-handed batter who can play either outfield corner position. Look for Raley to play a platoon role in Tampa Bay this season. He may even replace Austin Meadows, whose name has come up in trade rumors recently.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers have a surplus of left-handed batters, especially after acquiring first baseman Freddie Freeman. The latter joins Max Muncy, Gavin Lux, Cody Bellinger and Matt Beaty as lineup options. Therefore, Raley was deemed expendable at this time.
Fantasy impact
Raley could become a fantasy factor at some point in 2022, but he is not a reliable draft option at this time. Keep an eye on him, though. As for Dodson, he is a reliever who has yet to reach Triple-A ball. Therefore, he is off the fantasy radar for the time being.
