GRICHUK FOR TAPIA

The Colorado Rockies acquired outfielder Randal Grichuk and cash from the Toronto Blue Jays for outfielder Raimel Tapia and infielder Adrian Pinto.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
This deal makes sense for both squads. With Kris Bryant signed to play left field, the Rockies needed a center-fielder more than a left-fielder at this point. Grichuk is comfortable in the middle of the field, so he will likely patrol center field for the Rockies in 2022.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays do not have a lot of left-handed batters in their projected lineup for 2022, so Tapia should help in that respect. He could play left or center field, depending on the lineup configuration. He also adds more speed to the Toronto roster, which should help.

Fantasy impact
Both Grichuk and Tapia could benefit from this deal, since Grichuk will not play half the time at Coors Field and Tapia's playing time may be significantly greater with his new team. Draft both players with confidence. As for Pinto, he is a long way away from the fantasy radar because he is still in his teens.
