VanMETER MOVES TO PITTSBURGH
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired infielder/outfielder Josh VanMeter from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Listher Sosa.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
In VanMeter, the Pirates add an extremely versatile player who will likely come off the bench in Pittsburgh. He could carve out a decent amount of playing time but must prove he can hit with consistency.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks recently designated VanMeter for assignment, so they did well to get back a future asset. Sosa is a young, lanky right-hander who is several years away. He does have promise, though.
Fantasy impact
Neither VanMeter nor Sosa needs to be drafted in virtually any format this year. However, keep an eye on both players to see how they progress in 2022.
