MEADOWS MOVED TO MOTOWN
The Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Austin Meadows from the Tampa Bay Rays for infielder Isaac Paredes and a competitive balance draft pick in 2022.
What does it give the Detroit Tigers
In Meadows, the Tigers land a quality left-handed batter who mashes right-handed pitching on a regular basis. He struggles against southpaws, so expect Meadows to platoon with Detroit this season.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
Moving Meadows opens the door for Josh Lowe to take over in right field for Tampa Bay. Paredes has some untapped upside and could become a factor in the middle infield at some point in 2022.
Fantasy impact
Meadows still has solid fantasy value but the eventual return of top center field prospect Riley Greene (currently injured) may put a dent in Meadows' at-bats. He needs to get off to a good start. Though he does not need to be drafted yet, keep an eye on Paredes.
