PADRES PICK UP TAYLOR ROGERS

The San Diego Padres acquired pitcher Taylor Rogers and outfielder Brent Rooker from the Minnesota Twins for pitchers Chris Paddack and Emilio Pagan, and a player to be named later (Brayan Medina - 04/07/2022).

What does it give the San Diego Padres
For San Diego, adding Rogers is a quality move for the late innings. Rogers, a left-hander, should serve either a closer or setup role with the Padres this season. Rooker is a right-handed batter who could form a platoon in left field with San Diego. At worst, he will be a handy bat off the bench.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
For the Twins, adding Paddack should help the starting rotation. He was the odd man out in San Diego's rotation but should have little trouble establishing himself as a starter for Minnesota. Pagan is a solid reliever who could help replace some of the saves that Rogers would have gotten.

Fantasy impact
Rogers, Paddack and Pagan are all solid fantasy draft options after this trade, while Rooker's fortunes might also improve away from the Twin Cities. Keep an eye on how much playing time he receives with the Padres this season.
