METS MAKE A MOVE FOR VOGELBACH
The New York Mets acquired designated hitter/first baseman Daniel Vogelbach from the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitcher Colin Holderman.
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets were in search of a left-handed batter, so this deal makes sense for them. Vogelbach could wind up in a platoon with J.D. Davis in the designated hitter role.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
For the Pirates, getting Holderman adds another decent arm for their bullpen. Moving out Vogelbach should open up more playing time for Yoshi Tsutsugo and Michael Chavis.
Fantasy impact
Vogelbach hits for power and can draw walks, but the rest of his offensive game is flawed. He is not a recommendable fantasy option for most league formats. Holderman has a chance to become a setup man in Pittsburgh, so keep an eye on him.
