The New York Mets acquired catcher Michael Perez from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash.

What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets needed a little more catching depth with James McCann currently sidelined due to injury. Perez will report to Triple-A Syracuse for the time being.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates recently designated Perez for assignment, so they were at least able to get some cash back for his services.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Perez will serve a depth role with the Mets. At best, he will become their backup catcher.
