METS MOVE FOR OUTFIELDER NAQUIN

The New York Mets acquired outfielder Tyler Naquin and pitcher Phillip Diehl from the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Jose Acuna ánd infielder Hector Rodriguez.

What does it give the New York Mets
In Naquin, the Mets land a left-handed batter who can play all three outfield positions. In New York, Naquin should play mainly left field in a platoon role with Mark Canha, though he will also spell center-fielder Brandon Nimmo from time to time. Left-hander Diehl is merely organizational bullpen depth for the Mets.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
For Cincinnati, moving out the team's starting right-fielder is a loss. However, Acuna is the key to the deal for the Reds. He has a very promising arm and projects to develop into a quality starting pitcher down the road. Rodriguez is a very long-term infield prospect who also shows promise.

Fantasy impact
Naquin's playing time could go down slightly now that he is in Queens. He figures to sit on the bench against most left-handers down the stretch. Like Cincinnati, fantasy leaguers should consider selling high on Naquin. Diehl and Rodriguez have no fantasy value at this time, while Acuna is now squarely on the fantasy keeper radar.
