MARINERS ADD ACE LUIS CASTILLO!

The Seattle Mariners acquired pitcher Luis Castillo from the Cincinnati Reds for infielders Noelvi Marte and Edwin Arroyo, and pitchers Levi Stoudt and Andrew Moore.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
In Castillo, the Mariners land a legitimate ace starting pitcher to boost their rotation, which was already solid. His arrival gives Seattle a legitimate chance to do some damage in the 2022 postseason. The right-hander will probably replace either Chris Flexen or rookie George Kirby in the rotation.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
The Reds received four future assets for their ace starting pitcher, so they are clearly looking beyond this lost campaign. Both Marte and Arroyo are outstanding middle infield prospects who should eventually compete for the starting shortstop job in Cincinnati. Stoudt and Moore are solid pitching prospects, too.

Fantasy impact
Castillo's stock is on the rise moving away from Great American Ball Park, so his keeper status remains strong. Both Marte and Arroyo also own plenty of keeper value, although their arrival does create a bit of a logjam in terms of Cincinnati's future infield. Jonathan India is likely going to remain at second base for the long haul, which leaves Marte, Arroyo and emerging star prospect Elly De La Cruz to battle it out for the shortstop and third base gigs down the road. Neither Stoudt nor Moore should be picked up right away, but keep an eye on both.
