JOSH HADER HEADS TO SAN DIEGO
The San Diego Padres acquired pitcher Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Taylor Rogers, outfielder/infielder Esteury Ruiz and pitchers Dinelson Lamet and Robert Gasser.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
This is one of the biggest impact moves of 2022, as Hader is easily one of the most dominant closers in the game. Hader replaces Rogers, who was serviceable as San Diego's closer this season. Hader will definitely help the Padres in their quest to unseat the Dodgers as NL West division champs.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Rogers should help ease the loss of Hader to Milwaukee's bullpen, as should Lamet (if he can stay healthy). Ruiz is a great outfield prospect for the future, mostly because of his awesome stolen base potential. Gasser is an excellent prospect for the future. The Brewers did well with this trade.
Fantasy impact
Hader's fantasy value should remain steady with the move to San Diego. Rogers loses some stock after the move to Milwaukee, as he is expected to set up Devin Williams with his new team. Ruiz should be picked up in any league if he is still available because his impact could be massive due to his steals. Lamet does not need to be picked up at this time, while Gasser should be owned in all keeper formats.
