TYLER MAHLE MOVED TO MINNY
The Minnesota Twins acquired pitcher Tyler Mahle from the Cincinnati Reds for infielders Spencer Steer and Christian Encarnacion-Strand, and pitcher Steven Hajjar.
What does it give the Minnesota Twins
Adding Mahle to a rotation that also includes Sonny Gray (another former Red) and Joe Ryan is a coup for the Twins. By adding him along with closer Jorge Lopez from Baltimore, Minnesota has greatly enhanced its pitching staff before this year's deadline.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
The Reds continue to add quality infield prospects. They added Noelvi Marte and Edwin Arroyo in the Luis Castillo deal, and now add Steer and Encarnacion-Strand here. They also added a long-range pitching prospect in Hajjar. This was a solid return by Cincy.
Fantasy impact
Mahle should be helped by leaving Great American Ball Park, so his numbers figure to improve. If he is somehow available, pick him up (or trade for him). Steer and Encarnacion-Strand have keeper value, while Hajjar is a few years away.
