The Seattle Mariners acquired pitcher Matthew Boyd and catcher Curt Casali from the San Francisco Giants for catcher Andy Thomas and pitcher Michael Stryffeler.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners hope either Boyd or Casali, both currently injured, can help them down the stretch. Boyd could be a great pickup or a non-factor, depending on whether he is able to make it back.
What does it give the San Francisco Giants
Thomas is a decent catching prospect, while Stryffeler is an older reliever who can still make the big leagues. Overall, the Giants did well here to add two younger assets for two injured players.
Fantasy impact
Boyd is a high-risk, high-reward pitcher for the rest of 2022. Take a chance on him in deeper leagues. Casali has no value, while Thomas is now on the keeper radar as a potential GIants catching option. Stryffeler is not recommendable at this time.
