The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Sam Hilliard from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Dylan Spain.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
In Hilliard, the Braves get a toolsy outfielder who has yet to put it all together in MLB. He will get a new opportunity with Atlanta, although he may have to be content with fourth outfielder duties in 2023.
What does it give the Colorado Rockies
For the Rockies, who are constantly in search of more arms, adding Spain here makes sense. He is still young enough to emerge as a big-league pitcher but must find his niche with his new organization.
Fantasy impact
Keep an eye on both Hilliard and Spain during spring training to see if either has some keeper-league value. The off-season may dictate things, though.
