KYLE FARMER TRADED TO THE TWINS
The Minnesota Twins acquired infielder Kyle Farmer from the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Casey Legumina.
What does it give the Minnesota Twins
The Twins lost Carlos Correa, who decided to opt out of his contract, which left the team with a massive hole at shortstop. Farmer could be the one to fill it, though he is nowhere near as good as Correa on offense. Farmer is ideally suited to a utility role.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
The Reds decided to trade Farmer, who had been the team's starting shortstop by default recently. Cincinnati is stacked with several terrific shortstop prospects, so moving on from Farmer makes sense. Legumina is a potential arm out of the bullpen.
Fantasy impact
Legumina was recently added to the Twins' 40-man roster, so he will likely see some action in the big leagues with the Reds in 2023. However, he is not a fantasy factor. As for Farmer, moving away from Cincinnati's hitter-friendly confines ruins whatever fantasy appeal he had. Pass on drafting Farmer.
