PHILLIES, TIGERS SWAP FIVE!

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired pitcher Gregory Soto and infielder Kody Clemens from the Detroit Tigers for infielder Nick Maton, outfielder Matt Vierling and catcher Donny Sands.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies land another quality weapon for their bullpen in Soto, who will team with Jose Alvarado from the left side and right-handers Craig Kimbrel and Seranthony Dominguez. Clemens is likely to serve as a utility infielder if he makes the team out of spring training.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
Maton is a decent option to form at least half of a platoon in Detroit's infield in 2023, while Vierling could become a platoon outfielder for the Tigers next season as well. Sands provides organizational depth and may be a candidate to be Detroit's backup backstop in '23.

Fantasy impact
Soto may not receive as many save opportunities in Philadelphia in 2023, so buyer beware. He should remain a quality source of holds, though. Keep an eye on both Maton and Vierling in spring training to see what roles (if any) they earn. Neither should be drafted at this time. Clemens and Sands have limited value.
