MICHAEL TAYLOR TRADED TO MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Twins acquired outfielder Michael A. Taylor from the Kansas City Royals for pitchers Evan Sisk and Steven Cruz.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
In Taylor, the Twins add a terrific defensive center-fielder who will give the team options in 2023. Byron Buxton is a tremendous all-around center-fielder when healthy, but his lack of the latter makes the Taylor arrival important.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
Both Sisk and Cruz are relievers by trade, so both could have a shot at eventually earning a roster spot in Kansas City. By moving Taylor, the Royals seem to be handing the center field gig over to Drew Waters on a full-time basis.

Fantasy impact
Taylor's fantasy impact will be negligible, so he should not be drafted in most league formats. Buxton could see increased playing time at either designated hitter or an outfield corner in 2023, which may help keep him in the lineup more often. Neither Sisk nor Cruz has any fantasy value, while Waters is a potential rising fantasy star.
