BENSON TRADED TO THE REDS
The Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder Will Benson from the Cleveland Guardians for outfielder Justin Boyd and a player to be named later or cash considerations.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
Benson should get a much better opportunity in Cincinnati, whose outfield is murky at best at present time. He is still young enough to fulfill his potential, especially in a hitters' park like Great American Ball Park.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The Guardians have enough depth to compensate for Benson's departure. Boyd is a long-range prospect in the outfield, while the future asset also acquired in this deal has yet to be determined.
Fantasy impact
Keep a close eye on Benson this spring, as he is moving to a very good situation in Cincinnati. He should be drafted in many keeper formats, and may have enough appeal to be selected in all other leagues as well. Boyd is off the fantasy radar for the time being; he is several years away from reaching MLB.
