TIGERS BRING IN ZACH MCKINSTRY
The Detroit Tigers acquired infielder/outfielder Zach McKinstry from the Chicago Cubs for pitcher Carlos Guzman.
What does it give the Detroit Tigers
McKinstry is a versatile player who bats from the left side of the plate. He sports a .208 batting average, with 12 home runs and 43 RBI in 121 career games. It is unknown if he will start on the Tigers' Opening Day roster or in Triple-A, as he struggled this spring.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
McKinstry was not going to make the Cubs roster, so they traded him for a 24-year-old right-handed pitcher in Guzman, who has never pitched above Double-A ball. He is not a great pitching prospect but Chicago did not give up a superstar in this trade, either.
