GIOLITO, LOPEZ ADDED BY THE ANGELS
The Los Angeles Angels acquired pitchers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez from the Chicago White Sox for catcher Edgar Quero and pitcher Ky Bush.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels have decided to be buyers (not sellers) before this year's trade deadline. Therefore, not only have they added help for both the starting rotation (Giolito) and bullpen (Lopez), but they have also decided to take two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani off the trade market. The Halos are now going for a spot in the playoffs. It is now or never in Anaheim.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Quero is a decent catching prospect who might have a chance to showcase his abilities on the South Side of Chicago in a few seasons. As for Bush, the left-handed starting pitching prospect has plenty of strikeout ability. However, he needs to harness his pitches better in order to reach Major League Baseball. Quero and Bush are good additions to the White Sox.
Fantasy impact
Giolito's short-term fantasy value should get a boost with the move to Anaheim. Lopez might record a few more holds than he did in Chicago, but his fantasy value is fairly pedestrian at this point. Both Quero and Bush are on the keeper-league fantasy radar, but are probably a few years away from fantasy relevance.
