MARLINS LAND DAVID ROBERTSON

The Miami Marlins acquired pitcher David Robertson from the New York Mets for infielder Marco Vargas and catcher Ronald Hernandez.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
Robertson took over the closer role in New York after Edwin Diaz went down with an injury this season. He has put up excellent statistics so far this season (4-2, 2.05 ERA, 14 saves). Expect him to take over the closer role in Miami down the stretch, as A.J Puk has been struggling recently.

What does it give the New York Mets
Vargas and Hernandez were both ranked among the Marlins' top-25 prospects. However, both players are playing in rookie ball in the Florida Complex League. There are many years of development left before the Mets might see them pushing for time on the MLB roster.

Fantasy impact
This trade should have plenty of fantasy impact on the both teams 'pens. Puk and the recently acquired Jorge Lopez should see less save opportunities with Robertson now becoming the primary closer. With the Marlins playing so many close games Robertson's value should only increase. As for the Mets, the closers role will most be split between Adam Ottavino and Brooks Raley. The prospect to watch is Vargas who has been climbing many prospect rankings this year. He is one to keep an eye on in keeper leagues.
