ANGELS ADD TWO BATS FROM ROCKIES

The Los Angeles Angels acquired first baseman C.J Cron, outfielder Randal Grichuk and cash from the Colorado Rockies for pitchers Jake Madden and Mason Albright.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels continue to add, with two players who have previous ties to the organization. Cron spent the first four seasons of his career as an Angel, and will hit in the middle of the order for LA upon his return. Grichuk was originally drafted by the Angels, and will fill the outfield void created after Taylor Ward was injured. Both Cron and Grichuk are expected to play almost every day and bring some right-handed power to the Halos. Colorado is also sending $2 million to Los Angeles to cover salaries.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
Both Madden and Albright have spent the season in Single-A ball. They are a long way away from making an impact on the Rockies. However, Colorado has done well to add pitching prospects because the Rockies usually have to develop their own pitchers–because they struggle to attract them in free agency due to the hitters' paradise that is Coors Field. Madden and Albright were both ranked among the top-30 prospects for the Angels (according to MLB.com), so there is potential there.
