DIAMONDBACKS SEND CHAFIN TO BREWERS
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Andrew Chafin from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Peter Strzelecki.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Chafin will likely become the top left-hander in the Brewers bullpen after this trade. So far this season, he has posted solid numbers (4.19 ERA, 49 K, 8 saves). Expect him to be part of a trio of late-inning arms for Milwaukee alongside closer Devin Williams and setup man Joel Payamps.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
After adding a new closer in Paul Sewald, the D'backs are shipping out Chafin. Aside from Sewald being better, the main difference between the two is Arizona has more years of control left with Sewald. In return they get Strzelecki, who could fill a bullpen role in middle relief.
Fantasy impact
In a closer-by-commitee setup with Arizona, Chafin offered some fantasy value. That will decrease with the Brewers, who have Williams locked into the ninth-inning role. Strzelecki has not been a fantasy option yet this season, and that likely will not change in Arizona.
