PHAM HEADS WEST TO ARIZONA
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired outfielder/designated hitter Tommy Pham and cash from the New York Mets for infielder Jeremy Rodriguez.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Pham adds a right-handed bat to the Diamondbacks outfield, which is predominately left-handed. He will be a nice platoon option or bat off the bench. He will see plenty of at-bats against lefties as Arizona continues to make a playoff push.
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets continue to sell. Rodriguez is only 17 years old, and is currently playing in his first season in the minor leagues. He is a long-term prospect that has many years of development ahead of him. He is a nice pickup for New York.
Fantasy impact
Pham will most likely be a platoon bat for the Diamondbacks, either as a DH or left-fielder. Not being an everyday player will limit any impact he could have in fantasy baseball. Rodriguez needs a lot more development time.
