DODGERS SWING TRADE WITH ROYALS
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Ryan Yarbrough from the Kansas City Royals for first baseman Devin Mann and infielder Derlin Figueroa.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers added another starter, but not the one anyone was expecting. Yarbrough had a rough start to 2023 after being struck by a line drive. Upon his return, he has been excellent posting a 2.19 ERA. He could slide into the Dodgers rotation in place of their young starters, or head to the bullpen to become a long man and spot starter.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
Mann is on the older side for a prospect at age 26. He has spent the year producing big numbers in Triple-A ball (14 HR, 71 RBI, 50 BB). It will be interesting to see if he gets an opportunity with the Royals this season, due to all of their injuries at first base. Figueroa is 19 years old. A rebuilding team like the Royals have the time to wait and see what he can become.
