EDDYS LEONARD TO THE TIGERS

The Detroit Tigers acquired infielder Eddys Leonard from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers make a low-risk move here by bringing in Leonard, after the Dodgers designated him for assignment. The infield prospect has shown contact-hitting ability with moderate power in the minors, but he has yet to make his MLB debut. He may well get that chance with the Tigers in the final months of the 2023 season.

What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
Leonard joined the Dodgers as an international free agent back in 2017, and he earned a promotion to Double-A ball this season. Still, he was not a priority on the Dodgers' 40-man roster after new acquisitions for their playoff push. So, he was traded. In sending Leonard to the Tigers, the Dodgers receive cash to work with elsewhere.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact with this trade, as Leonard will serve as organizational depth in the minors for the Tigers.
