AARON BUMMER TO THE BRAVES
The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Aaron Bummer from the Chicago White Sox for pitchers Mike Soroka, Jared Shuster and Riley Gowens, and infielders Braden Shewmake and Nicky Lopez.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves obviously wanted Bummer badly, since they sent five players to Chicago to get the deal done! Bummer was a very solid setup man for the White Sox, so expect him to be used in a similar role with Atlanta in 2024.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Soroka and Shuster have a chance to crack Chicago's rotation in 2024, while Shewmake has potential as a starting middle infielder. Lopez is likely to come off the bench in Chicago, while Gowens is a decent pitching prospect for the system.
Fantasy impact
Both Soroka and Shuster may get a better opportunity to pitch regularly in Chicago's rotation, but they are not likely to get the same run support away from Atlanta. Proceed with caution with both pitchers. Shewmake and Gowens are keeper-league material only at this point, while Lopez has negligible value.
