ROYALS SEND RELIEVER TO MILWAUKEE

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Taylor Clarke from the Kansas City Royals for infielder Cam Devanney and pitcher Ryan Brady.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
In Clarke, the Brewers add a serviceable reliever who should compete for a role in their bullpen this season. The right-hander is coming off a forgettable year (5.95 ERA in 59 innings in 2023), so he will need to improve to keep pitching in Major League Baseball. It cost two prospects, though neither are elite.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals recently brought in several pitchers in free agency, which made Clarke expendable. Devanney is a 26-year-old infielder who managed 11 home runs and a .271 average at Triple-A in 2023. Meanwhile the 24-year-old Brady posted an impressive 2.69 ERA, earning a promotion to Double-A ball.

Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact. Clarke should remain a middle relief option at best, while the Royals' acquisitions have more to prove before they get a look in the majors. With a strong showing, Devanney could push for time with the Royals this season, while Brady will need to continue his recent success at higher levels.
