GLASNOW GOES TO THE DODGERS
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Tyler Glasnow and outfielder Manuel Margot from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Ryan Pepiot and outfielder Jonny DeLuca.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers need pitching, and recent acquisition Shohei Ohtani will not pitch in 2024 as he recovers from surgery. So, Glasnow is a good pickup (provided he can remain healthy, which has been an issue for him). Margot can play center field or an outfield corner, so he should be able to carve out a bench role with LA in 2024.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are notorious for trading away talent, so Glasnow is the next in line. Petiot is a good bet to replace him in Tampa Bay's rotation in 2024, while DeLuca has a chance to replace Margot in the outfield. This trade would hurt many Major League Baseball franchises, but for the Rays it is just another deal. They have lost bigger talent than this.
Fantasy impact
Glasnow's fantasy value goes up after the move to LA, but beware his injury history and do not overrate. Petiot could end up being the big winner after this trade, although the Rays use their pitchers differently than a lot of teams. They are not always as fantasy-friendly as some teams. Neither Margot nor DeLuca have much fantasy value at this time.
